My story
My name is Hubert Ngabirano. I am a husband to my queen Kathryn and a father to two precious boys, Louie and Noé. We are proud Plymouth residents and I am honored to call this community home.
I was born and raised in Burundi, in Eastern Central Africa. I grew up in the French school system, and somewhere near the end of high school, a dream took hold — I was going to the United States.
There was one problem. I didn’t speak English.
So I went to YouTube. I became a voracious reader of books I could only understand 20% of. But 20% became 50%, and 50% became 80%, and before long I was the go-to English guy in my school.
When my family looked into American colleges, I felt like a small school in St. Peter, Minnesota was calling my name. There was one problem. A big problem. The tuition was $52,000 a year. I genuinely thought there was a typo.
My family had modest means — and by American standards, nothing close to what college would cost. As an exercise, look up the economy of Burundi and then the state of Minnesota. Then look at the population numbers. That context will tell you more than I can in a paragraph.
But through a story I would love to tell you sometime, God provided. I attended Gustavus Adolphus College, served as Student Body Co-President, graduated in three and a half years, and went on to earn my MBA from the Stoltz School of Business.
From there, I spent five years at Ryan Companies — one of the most respected commercial real estate firms in the country — learning the industry from the inside out.
And now I am here — doing work I genuinely love. I am a realtor with Team Steady at Remax/Results, and every day I get to walk alongside people navigating one of the biggest decisions of their lives. There is nothing I would rather be doing.
